Serenity Ranch B&B was founded in 2008 by Shane and Alan. We wanted to offer a gay-friendly accommodation, and also be inclusive by welcoming families, children and dogs.
The building is situated on 2 acres of land, surrounded by farm fields. We embarked upon a period of extensive renovation and retrofitting to bring the property up to world standard.
In 2009 we garnered our first international award, and since then have achieved recognition as the #1 B&B in Canada and the #14 B&B in the world (TripAdvisor 2017).
Our hallmark service is what sets us apart from others, and we want all our guests to experience a relaxing and comfortable stay.
The Ranch offers a total of 5 suites on three levels. Guests relax on the large front veranda which overlooks the pond and the front grounds.
The main suite has a 4 poster King bed; the bathroom has a shower for 2. All of our suites have ensuite bathrooms, and are equipped with microwave and fridge.
In the country, we have satellite TV. Our free WiFi is fast and can be accessed anywhere on the property.
We have tried hard to provide other items in our rooms which are generally regarded as 'extras' in other establishments. In our opinion, no guest should have to waste valuable time shopping for essential sundries.
The Ranch is configured to provide multiple conversational areas, both inside and outside. Our 'Sunset Cottage' is a unique rustic heated lounge on the back deck. It commands a splendid view of the surrounding countryside. Our guests are able to enjoy the lounge year round. Guests are warm and toasty, even in the depths of our Canadian winters, thanks to the beautiful Vermont casting gas fire stove.
We have a resident dog (Shelby) and cat (Callie). They endear themselves to guests, and are an essential part of our team. Dogs are welcome here; our fully fenced back property allows them to run free (with owner supervision).
Within easy driving distance, hiking trails and extensive bike paths are to be found in the Ancaster area. The Bruce Trail, a continuous protected trail extending from Niagara to Tobermory is close by.
The historic town of Dundas (site of many movie shoots) is 20 minutes away. In Hamilton, Ancaster and Dundas there are about 100 waterfalls.
Toronto, Canada's largest city is an hour away, as are the vineyards of Niagara. With easy access, our guests are able to enjoy the summer theatre season at Niagara-on-the-Lake and Stratford.
At Serenity Ranch we have tried to create a resort which is inclusive. Our full country breakfast is always delicious and we use locally sourced and organic items where possible. Those guests who wish to prepare a meal are able to use the guest kitchen which comes fully equipped.
We believe that Serenity Ranch is our paradise on earth - come and find out for yourselves.
