"This 1873 Greek Revival house is my favorite B&B in the area. The grounds are perfectly manicured but bloom whimsically. In the afternoon the aroma of baked brie and homemade bread (served during wine hour) waft through the main house and the staff does everything imaginable to make your stay special. The delicious full breakfast - accompanied by Olallieberry jam, of course - is gourmet all the way." - FROMMER'S
Olallieberry Inn ... a romantic bed and breakfast located in the seaside village of Cambria on California's central coast. This 1865 built home is one of the oldest buildings in town and sets on the banks of the Santa Rosa Creek. A 130 year old Redwood tree greets guests from the inn's front entry. Lush and colorful gardens can be enjoyed from the back deck. Olallieberry Inn offers a peaceful, serene and private oasis, yet you're just a short walk to the finest restaurants, shops and galleries and is less than 10 miles from Hearst Castle.
Breakfast is essential to the Olallieberry Inn experience. The morning meal is prepared from the finest ingredients ... and a dash of loving care. The Central Coast is blessed with abundant varieties of fruits and vegetables and we buy fresh local produce at our Farmer's Market.
Breakfast includes: Fresh orange juice; gourmet coffee and teas; fresh baked muffins or coffee cake; homemade granola, olallieberry yogurt and seasonal fresh fruit; the hot entree varies from day to day.
Evening Hors D'oeuvres are served from 5-6 PM we serve complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres. Our wines are local and our hors d'oeuvres sumptuous.
Cambria and the surrounding hamlets of San Simeon, Harmony, Cayucos, Morro Bay and the inland wine regions offer a wealth of fun activities that can be enjoyed for a two day or weeklong stay! Two very popular attractions are Hearst Castle and Moonstone Beach.
History of the Olallieberry Inn - This Magnificent House at 2476 Main Street was built by the Manderscheid brothers, Otto and Carl, who were born in Prussia and arrived in Cambria in 1872. Both of them were Pharmacists and operated the town's local Drug Store on Main Street. In 1874 they bought a lot from A. M. Hardie and the following year built the house out of Cambria pine. The Redwood siding came from trees in Big Sur with the milling being accomplished at the local Leffingwell Saw Mill.
The house has been a family home, boarding house and finally a bed and breakfast beginning in 1976. As a bed and breakfast, the inn has had 4 sets of owners. Recently purchased by California natives, Nelson and Maureen Hubbell, who are currently renovating and restoring the property to its original vintage. "We're very proud to be part of such an "old world" historic home and charming community. We're committed to excellence and maintaining the Inn's outstanding reputation as the Best B & B in the county!"
