" LESBIAN OWNED, MONADNOCK REGION B&B
The Surry House B&B was built circa 1865 part of a village farm in an agricultural town with good farmlands with a heart of a gentle Currier & Ives. The Surry House Bed & Breakfast offers three unique guest rooms with a cozy ambiance, comfortable furnishings and eclectic accessories. A full country breakfast is served from 7:30 am until 9:00 am. and may include coffee, tea and juice, omelets, home fries, muffins or scones, bacon or sausage, and waffles or Mary Anne's specialty "pear-ginger pancakes." There is a large living room with several cozy conversation areas and a fireplace with a most curious piece of art above the mantle, a lithophane. The sunroom is a wonderful place to read or relax with a lovely view of the gardens and pool with a cup of tea or cocoa. Feel free to peruse the many books in the Great Room. About The Area Surry is home to about 650 people, and boasts a town hall, library, church and school. The Surry House is within walking distance of Surry Recreational Park, Surry Dam, snowmobiling, x-cross skiing, swimming, hiking the Surry mountain range and so much more. The town of Keene, with its shops, theaters, restaurants and beautiful town square, is just an eight minute car ride away. There are all the wonderful summer activities, fall with its beautiful foliage and the Keene Pumpkin Festival, winter sports and the anticipation of things reborn spring brings. The Monadnock Region is noted for its scenic towns and villages that offer the traditional New England experience. Discover uncrowded lakes and woods for hiking and boating - mountains and meadows for hiking and skiing. Enjoy tax-free shopping at country stores and antique shops. The word "monadnock" originally comes from the Abnacki Indian language meaning "mountain that stands alone." Because Monadnock "stands alone", views from the treeless summit stretch far into the distance for 100 mile views into surrounding states like Vermont and Massachusetts. Mt. Monadnock is a magnet for hikers with forty miles of clearly marked foot trails, from wooded hills to bare rock summit. Surry Mountain Lake offers year round fun for everyone. The recreation area offers a 600 foot long sandy beach, with a swimming area, boat ramp and picnic tables with grills. Swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, canoeing, horseshoes and volleyball are some of the summertime favorite activities enjoyed at Surry Mountain Lake. During the winter, visitors enjoy x-country skiing, ice fishing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Use The Surry House as base for your adventures throughout the Monadnock region or just stay right here and relax to your heart's content.
