Stepney House is one of 14 townhouses built around a gated car-park and communal garden area in eastern London, with vistas of Stepney Green Park from the rear rooms.
It's set in a quiet, largely residential area in E1 with good access and good connections to all areas in London that you wish to explore by foot, bike or transport - there are 24/7 buses (routes 25 & 205) nearby, underground (tube) trains using 4 of the most popular routes, the Overground and DLR stations close at hand, local bicycle rental docking stations (a new scheme based on the successful system that Paris has enjoyed for years) and reliable taxis/mini-cabs.
The house is fully equipped for your London bed and breakfast holiday and has regular cleaning services during your stay. There are local convenience stores (including a Tesco Metro open 7 days per week from 0700 - 2300), some of the other stores are open 24/7 and there is also a large Supermarket nearby (Sainsbury's Whitechapel).
Each of the two double bedrooms on the first floor is well equipped with an en-suite shower room, your own TV, internet access (wifi), luxurious bed & linen and central heating/a.c./fans.
Our London B&B feels a bit like a lived-in art gallery with all kinds of surprises in every nook and cranny - breakfast can be taken in the conservatory overlooking the garden or under the pergola during warmer weather. Breakfast can be taken between 8 and 10am and includes numerous healthy options, but a full cooked breakfast can be provided with a glass of bucks fizz on special request. We do not offer lunch or dinner, but can suggest good local places to try.
There are local pubs nearby (including one overlooking the Thames river, dating back to Dickens time and now owned by Sir Ian McKellan), numerous coffee shops, cafes & restaurants, an independent multi-screen cinema (where Charlie Chaplin performed live in 1909 before Hollywood beckoned), street markets (Brick Lane, Petticoat Lane, Broadway, Spitalfields & Colombia Road), art galleries (Whitechapel & the Wapping Project, which takes installation art up several notches),museums, theatres (Hackney Empire, Stratford & Wiltons Music Hall, the oldest surviving music hall in the world from the C19th) and a variety of shops.
You don't need to go into the West End to shop as there are luxury shops in Stratford (two stops away on the tube) in the Westfield complex, adjacent to the Olympic Park site - Westfield is claimed to be the largest shopping mall in the whole of Europe - or you can go shopping or dining in the City, near to St Paul's Cathedral, where London's newest shopping destination "One New Change" will delight you.
