Built as the family residence of John Lane Mullins, a member of the New South Wales Colonial Parliament, Simpsons was designed in 1892 by leading Sydney architect, John Bede Barlow. The glory of this house has been recaptured in the imaginative restoration which provides spacious rooms, grand halls and stained glass windows. A unique range of ‘arts and crafts’ decorations of the period enhances these. Exquisite prints from the hand of the renowned Australian artist Ellis Rowan, and friezes of Australian flora have been drawn from the collections of Sydney’s premier museum, the Powerhouse.
All rooms or suites are individually air conditioned (as well as having ceiling fans). All feature STD/ISD telephones and en-suite bathrooms.
