The Secret Garden is a historically designed treasure built in 1888 by John McKay, a fur and leather merchant for his family. Antique fireplaces, beautiful stained glass windows and interesting architectural details are reminiscent of a quieter, more genteel era. The Secret Garden is located just a few blocks from the bustling waterfront, fine restaurants, quaint boutiques, museums and art galleries. We are centrally air conditioned for your comfort. The guest parlour features a fireplace and comfortable seating for conversation or relaxation. The flicker of candlelight and soft music welcome guests to a full, delicious breakfast served in our beautiful oak paneled dining room with lovely stained glass windows. Menus vary daily including chilled juice, seasonal fruit dishes, delicious entrees, homemade coffee cake or muffins and great coffee & teas. Our library offers a quiet retreat for reading or just relaxing. It also features a fireplace for warmth and charm on cool days. Guests are encouraged to curl up with a good book from our varied collection of books. In spring, our courtyard garden comes alive with lots of potted plants, wrought iron furniture and fountain. It is an ideal place to enjoy the outdoors. The sound of water, scent of flowers and warm breezes create a relaxing and enjoyable 'Secret Garden'. Our 'old fashioned' front porch offers a wonderful place to sit and relax with an early morning coffee and watch the neighbourhood come alive. After shopping or sightseeing, enjoy a cool drink and soak in the afternoon sun. A 'romantic' porch swing, wicker loveseats and rockers create an inviting setting to sit back and make evening plans.
