Lodging Search: This search looks at almost every field for each accommodations listing - property name, amenities, description, ownership, etc. Because of this, this search will provide very wide-ranging results - a search on "Santa Fe", for instance, will turn up records for the Santa Fe Luxury B&B in Australia, Sleeping Inn Surfers which boasts "Santa Fe style decor", and several others, along with places that are actually in Santa Fe, NM. This search will give you the most results, but not necessarily the most targeted ones.
Lodging by Location Search: In contrast, this lodging search only looks at city, state, and country fields on each accommodations listing, along with owned, clientele, and amenities - which screens out most of the false hits when you want to find a place by location. This search does not include the property name field.
Travel Agent/Tour Operator Search: This search looks at almost every field for each agent/operator listing - company name, services, description, ownership, etc. Because of this, this search will provide very wide-ranging results.
Weddings/Unions Search: This search looks at almost every field for each wedding/union listing - company name, description, ownership, etc. Because of this, this search will provide very wide-ranging results.
Real Estate Agent Search: This search looks at almost every field for each real estate listing - company name, agent name, description, etc. Because of this, this search will provide very wide-ranging results.

Here are a few tips:
Most of our searches (with the exception of the "lodging by location" search) are set up to find records with every keyword used, to help you narrow down your search. So searching for "gay b&b beach" will *only* find listings that have all three of these words in the listing.
If you're looking for an accommodation listing in a specific area, use the Location search first - ths search only looks at the city, state, country and hidden keyword fields, along with select information fields like ownership, clientele, and type of accommodation, screening out words in the description, headline, property and other fields that often result in muddied location results. You can also use the maps on the home page and other pages within the site to "drill down" to the place you want to go.
To narrow down a search for a phrase (like Santa Fe, or gay owned), put double quotes around it: "Santa Fe" "Gay Owned". This will cause the search script to look for exactly that phrase, and to ignore listings with both search words in separate parts of the listing.
Use "or" between words to search for records that have some but not all of the keywords you have entered.
Results will be listed in Country, State, City order, Within city, listings that have a full page or picture on the Purple Roofs site are listed first.
When searching for a city, it is a good idea to also include the state or country to screen out other places with the same city/place name. For instance, searching New Dehli, India will screen out places in Indiana (which also contains the word india).
