THINGS TO DO IN WINTER
Were the closest historic inn to the slopes - only 6 miles from Killington's high-speed, heated Skyship gondola and are only 8 miles to Bear Mountain - use either of these entrances and avoid the access road traffic jam! (The main Killington entrance is only 10 miles away!). Killington has 1182 skiable acres, 200 trails over 7 interconnected mountains with 32 lifts, the greatest vertical descent in New England and makes more snow than any other resort in the world.
Okemo ski resort is only 10 miles to our south and offers the newly-opened Jackson Gore facility with a variety of slopes, new high-speed lifts, marvelous base lodge and dining facilities. Okemos slopes provide a less crowded environment than Killington, making Okemo particularly attractive for beginning and intermediate skiers, and for families.
For non-skiers, our area provides lots of other winter fun snowboarding, sleigh rides, ice-skating, ice-fishing, day-spas, outdoor swimming and hot-tubbing, museums, antiquing excursions, outlet shopping, and quaint country villages with winter festivals.
THINGS TO DO IN SUMMER AND FALL
From mid-May through late October, there are so many recreational and educational opportunities within a short drive from Salt Ash Inn that they are too numerous to describe here. On our main Website you will find descriptions and links to information about bicycling, motorcycling, mountain biking, cross-country and mountain hiking, state parks, fishing and boating, golfing, horseback riding, and virtually any type of outdoor recreation you can think of. Summer and fall are perfect times to enjoy the moderate temperatures of our clean mountain climate and our cool, starlit nights, while shopping, dining, antiquing, visiting craft fairs and artisan exhibits, little-theatre evenings, and farm-life experiences. Maple-sugaring demonstrations in late spring are great fun, and our fall foliage is incomparable.
