Rainbow Lodge was a well thought out plan of converting my former general store /reupholstery shop to an exclusively gay & lesbian Bed & Breakfast. During the renovations I tried to keep as much of the old world charm of the interior of the building. When entering, the first things you’ll notice are the walls and ceiling of B.C. fir and the maple floor. This gives you the feeling of being in a lodge or cottage. In the great room is a collection of some 35 years worth of collecting antiques and memorabilia from across Ontario and the Island. Separating the room from the galley kitchen is the old store counter resurrected from the warehouse. Outside, most days, you’ll see my 1931 Chev waiting to take you for a spin. Brought in Ontario it is fondly known as the Gay Mobile and guests who venture Charlottetown with Jim behind the wheel are shown how to do the Royal Wave. Out in the picket fence lined courtyard are many varieties of flowers and shrubs and a waterfall rolls down the island stone into a fish pond.
Indulge in our Evening Lobster Suppers. The menu consists of mussels, garden salad, 1 1/4 lb. lobster, potato, garlic bread and homemade dessert. Also, ask Jim for a tour in his 1931 Chevrolet! Full breakfast is included when you visit with us at Rainbow Lodge. The breakfast consists of coffee, tea, blended juice (ask Jim what it is affectionately called!), fresh daily sticky buns and croissants (home-cooked), and your choice of either bacon and eggs, a vegetable omelette or French Toast.
After the theater walk next door to the Victoria Row where there are many outdoor cafes and shops or walk down to the waterfront park and have an ice cream cone or take in the nightlife which is Charlottetown. The gay community of Prince Edward Island has monthly dances at The Delta Charlottetown. It is a fun night where visitors and locals mingle and meet. Jim Culbert, innkeeper at the Lodge, has been active in the gay community of P.E.I. since he arrived in 1988.

Rainbow Lodge is an old converted General Store located on the Trans Canada Highway in Vernon Bridge, Prince Edward Island, Canada. We are conveniently located just 15 minutes east of Charlottetown and 20 minutes west of Wood Islands Ferry. 
During your stay, we invite you to enjoy our garden, relax in the Great Room of the lodge after a fun day of sightseeing, or cozy up in your suite and watch the setting sun. You’ll find either the Walnut or Ash Suite to be a perfect ending to your day.
Rainbow Lodge is close to many of Canada's top golf courses, renown beaches, historic sites, light houses and lobster suppers. Just 15 min. into Charlottetown is the Confederation of the Arts where this year, as for 33 yrs before, you can see the musical "Anne Of Green Gables". Other live theater shows are done throughout the summer.
