Paul Punahele Andrade was born on the Island Of Hawai'i in 1962. Punahele was raised in Puako and Honoka'a, Hawai'i. As a young child he was interested in all things Hawaiian. He studied traditional Hula Kahiko and Hula 'Auana for seventeen years and today he is a kumu hula ( hula teacher) and composer and entertainer in many of the local Hotel Hawaiian Lu'au shows. He has taught the Hula in a traditional school of his own for nearly 10 years. For the past 5 years he has begun to study the art form of traditional Hawaiian massage of spiritual cleansing (Lomilomi ke ala hoku).
Punahele studied Hawaiian language, pottery art, flora and fauna and Hawaiian music at the University Of Hawaii at Hilo. He has a great sense of place and respect for the land, sea and Island and that never allows him to take his island home for granted. Punahele has shared his home, its beauty, history, flora and fauna with visitors from all over the world and he believes that the greatest thing in life is the spirit of aloha.
Punhele has a 17 year old son Chad Amanakamaha'oikeawakeapomaika'i (Kamaha'o) who is the pride of his life. And the love of his life is Kelly Wilson who is also a co-host at E walea by the Sea. Punahele and Kelly also have a tropical fruit farm on the east side of the island at Hakalau in Wailea. They enjoy that work very much and have great plans for their 6 acre farm and home.
