This master pool suite is located on a property on a safe, quiet street in a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood of exclusively single-family homes, within two miles of the Atlantic Ocean and downtown Fort Lauderdale and one mile of the Wilton Manors entertainment district and the Federal Highway (US 1) restaurant/retail row.

Our Ft. Lauderdale vacation rental home was built in the late 1950s and reflects the era’s modernist design trends with its sloping high ceilings and open common area. The 540 square foot pool suite was added in 2002. It opens directly onto the pool through sliding glass doors built into a glass wall, and is linked to the kitchen of the main home by a closet-lined hallway. A gate to the pool fence, which opens onto the suite’s covered parking space, is about 10 steps away from the sliding glass doors.

The suite is furnished with recently purchased Lexington/Tommy Bahama king (top-of-the line plush) bed, dresser, and night table, an antique cedar chest, a loveseat, a large desk, and a cherry wood desk/lounge chair. A home office nook within the suite has a bougainvillea-adorned view to the street. Artwork, some original, evokes the south Florida environment. Floors are flecked ceramic tile and covered by a variety of (pool) water-tolerant rugs.

The pool area’s landscaping is tall, thick, and heavily tropical. The patio area is paved brick and is fully enclosed by a six foot privacy fence. Furnishings include two chaise lounges and two dining chairs (all Brown Jordan), a wrought iron dining table, and a cherry wood side table.

The pool is 9 feet deep and has a belt for “treadmill” swimming. Suite guests generally have exclusive use of the pool area.

The suite generally is not suitable for couples for more than a week.

Kitchen privileges generally are limited to use of the refrigerator, microwave, stovetop for rice/pasta/boiling water, and the oven for baking/heating prepared foods. (Individuals who stay longer than a week would have greater use of the kitchen.) Only foods provided are coffee, iced tea, milk, sugar, and lemon.

In-house meals in winter months are generally poolside. In the summer season, it’s a mix of the main house dining area and in-suite trays.
