Stewart Thom and Gary Turner invite you to visit their home, Heriott Park, which is located just over 1 mile north of Edinburgh city centre. Although the guest house is not exclusively gay, you can be sure of a warm welcome from your hosts whatever your orientation.
Heriott Park was originally 3 terraced townhouses and now trades as a 16 bedroom guest house and also self catering vacation rentals. Some period features in the guest house have been retained to evoke the atmosphere and splendor of over 100 years ago when the property was built. The tastefully appointed bedrooms all have private shower/bathrooms and come equipped with televisions and tea/coffee making facilities. Items such as hairdryers and ironing equipment can be borrowed from reception. The front rooms enjoy panoramic views of the Edinburgh skyline including Arthur’s Seat, Calton Hill and Edinburgh Castle, whilst the rooms to the back of the house have a peaceful view of the garden.
There is a good range of rooms including double, twin and family rooms sleeping from 3 to 5 people. A discounted rate can usually be quoted for single occupancy. Guest house rates are inclusive of a full British Breakfast but those who prefer a lighter option will find plenty to choose from on the menu.

Getting Around
Heriott Park is located just over 1 mile north of the city centre, far enough out to enjoy the benefits of free parking but close enough to walk into town if you enjoy the exercise! The walk to either the main shopping/sightseeing areas or the main gay bars is around 30 minutes, but there is also an excellent bus service which would take around 10 minutes. Getting around by bus is easy as an all day ticket can be bought when you make your first journey.
In addition to its proximity to Edinburgh city centre, Heriott Park is located just 1 mile from the fashionable Port of Leith which is home to the former Royal Yacht Britannia, the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre and a wide selection of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.
Your Hosts
Former teacher Stewart runs the Guest House on a full time basis with a small band of friendly and dedicated staff. His partner, Gary, continues to have a day job as a manager for the City of Edinburgh Council. Dog lovers may enjoy meeting the 2 canine residents Wilma (a Boxer) and Kira (a Collie cross) but otherwise they don’t normally mingle with the guests!
Stewart has a lifelong interest in fairground rides, and spends quite a lot of time restoring old fairground equipment – you may well see parts of his restoration projects in the back garden.
