The Old Salt House Bed and Breakfast was built more than three hundred ago, and sits on the banks of the L'Aulne River, in the Finistere region of Brittany. Our Northern France B&B has panoramic views of the French Countryside.

We can arrange pick-ups from the airport or ferry terminal, and we'll also be happy to give you a tour of the area and help you with monetary exchange, if needed.

We carefully restored the Old Salt House Bed & Breakfast two years ago, using British craftsmen, and have retained the building's historic charm and character.

The home has a sense of style and grace that's evident from the moment you enter until the time you leave. There are surprises and hidden nooks and crannies around every corner.

When you wake up in the morning, you'll enjoy the views of the river and the surrounding village - it's like living in a fairy tale. You may not want to get out of bed.

The natives are very friendly, and will often invite you into their homes. They offer gracious hospitality to visitors, and Port Launay is very safe - you can leave your door unlocked.

The Nantes-Brest Canal runs past the Old Salt Hiouse B&B, giving our guests opportunities for bicycling, hiking, fishing and sailing.  There are a number of restaurants, bakeies and bars within three minutes of our front door on foot, and we're also close to Châteaulin (hypermarket, bars/restaurants etc), the National Parc Armorique and a number of beautiful beaches on the bay of Douarnenez.

There's also a wonderful aquarium in Brest, not far from here, called Oceanopolis, Brest', rated one of the best aquaria in the world. And the medieval town of Quimper is also a great daytrip, with ancient buildings, including an imposing cathedral, modern shops and a variety of art galleries and museums.

Or take a boat down the River Odet, or the TGV to Paris for a great outing.
