Ochre Pit Cove is a little fishing village along the Northeastern coast of the Avalon Peninsula, along the Baccalieu Trail in Conception Bay North. Within the village you can walk up the road to see the old weather-worn graveyard. If you walk two minutes the other way, you'll come to the wharf and fish plant. Here you can watch the fishing boats come and go, meet local fishermen, and watch as they have their catch hauled up each day.
Another path leads to the beach where you can see the Ochre cliffs the town is named for.
The beach is a great place to explore tide pools, skip rocks, and have a little fire on the beach in the evenings (bring a bucket to put out the fire when you are done please).
The area is full of great hikes and ATV (quad) or biking trails to explore.
In the late summer, you can walk outside your door, sit down with a pail, and pick fresh blueberries.
If you like swimming, Northern Bay Sands park and beach is a three minute drive and Salmon Cove beach is just ten minutes the other direction. Or take a drive around the multitude of outports that dot the coast around the bay.
Looking for a quiet, peaceful place to get away from it all? Come stay with us at Newfoundland's Ochre Pit Cove Cottage!
