" EXPANSIVE OCEAN VISTAS
FROM EVERY DECK "

Drinking in the expansive view from every window and wide-open deck you may see whales breeching, dolphins jumping and the sun rising.   Ocean Spirit maximizes your experience.  Experience a dream vacation that will stay with you forever.

A prismatic function of sacred geometry and natural elements, you can choose between one private studio or a combination of connected spaces that are perfect for family reunions or small groups.

For budget minded parties of 4-8 people, we recommend the spacious Triangle where  vacation retreat meets modern art.

Ocean Spirit celebrates awesome sunrises morning after morning.  The ocean is only 600 feet away and Kehena Beach, a clothing optional beach, is only a 10 minute walk from your retreat.

The Big Island of Hawaii is a place of unbelievable diversity and beauty with rare, endangered plant and animal life, pristine micro-climates, snow covered peaks, lava deserts and lush tropical rainforest.

The world's most massive mountain (Mauna Loa at 19,000 cubic miles) and earth's most active volcano (Kilauea) are some of the humbling and awe-inspiring treasures of the Big island of Hawaii.  Swimming with the wild dolphins is also just a short walk away!

Things to Do in and Around Pahoa

The easternmost corner of the Big Island is home to the district of Puna, a historical area that offers countless treasures.  Bigger than the island of Oahu, Puna is a colorful and culturally distinct enclave of artists, writers, counter-culture legends, permaculture farmers, and a thriving gay community.  Here you can feel free to slow down, completely unwind and explore the extraordinary abundance.

Just down the road:

Kehena Beach: A 2 minute drive or a 10 minute walk from Ocean Spirit.  Natural black sand beach - look for the dolphins and turtles or see the whales January-April.

Sunrise and sunset hikes on the lava fields.

Snorkeling at Kapoho Tide-pools: Dozens of spring-fed tide-pools offering fantastic snorkeling.

Soaking at Ahalanui (“the warm pond”): A large spring-and ocean-fed pool with a manmade wall separating it from the ocean.

Steam vents: A maze of short trails leading to natural lava steam rooms of varying sizes.

La'akea Permaculture Gardens: devoted to teaching sustainable, earth-restorative practices.

Lava Tree State Park: A gentle 30-60 minute forest walk through moss-covered lava tube trees and monkeypod trees.

Volcanoes National Park: Home of Pele, the Hawaiian Goddess of fire.

Hilo Farmers' Market, Rainbow Falls and Boiling Pots adventure.

Waipi'o Valley: An ancient meeting place of Hawaiian chiefs, one of the most beautiful places on the face of the Earth.

Akaka Falls: free-fall plunge of the 420 feet.

Surfing at Honoli'i Beach Park: best surfing and boogie boarding spot on this side of the island.

Sea kayaking: Kealakekua Bay on the west side of the island.

Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden: 4-mile scenic route at the north end of Hilo, over 2,000 exotic types of marked flora.

Stargazing on Mauna Kea, The World's Largest Astronomical Observatory.

Come stay with us in Pahoa on beauthful Hawaii.
