Woodland Park, ColoradoIf you ever need to get away from it all, then head to the High Mountains in Colorado.  Pikes Peak Paradise Bed and Breakfast is THE place to go.

Woodland Park, ColoradoIt is located just 18 miles west of  Colorado Springs  and just to the south of Woodland Park also known as “The City Above The Clouds”.

Woodland Park is located at 8,465 feet above sea level on the north slope of Pikes Peak and is surrounded by over a million acres of Pike National Forest.

Pikes Peak Paradise B & B is located on 4 acres of private land. The views of the mountains and of Pikes Peak are breath-taking. And they are over 9,000 feet in elevation.

Woodland Park, ColoradoRon Pijut and Michael Zacharias purchased the B&B a couple of years ago and  have been making major renovations to it. They both are tremendous guys.

All of the rooms/suites face south towards Pikes Peak. You are surrounded by trees mountains and more trees and mountains. You can watch deer everywhere. A full gourmet sit-down breakfast is served each day. In all of our travels, they make the finest gourmet breakfast!

In addition they offer snacks and soft drinks throughout the day, dessert in the evening and 4 hours of complimentary beer or wine.  Can it get any better than that?  Of COURSE they have down pillows and duvet covers and of course they have 1000 Egyptian linens and all rooms have hot tubs or whirlpools.

Woodland Park, ColoradoEach has their own patio/deck. We were there earlier this month when it was hot all over the country and there is no need for air-conditioning.  Throw open your door onto your patio and enjoy sleeping with the cool air coming in. Check out their website at www.pikespeakparadise.com  and their toll free number is 800-728-8282.  Ron and Michael are just the perfect hosts in every way.

With walking paths and the cool weather one really doesn’t need to go anywhere else, but if you wanted to, we would suggest driving up to Pikes Peak which is great adventure itself.

Other places to visit would be the Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Cave of the Winds, Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Manitou Indian Cliff Dwellings, Florissant Fossil Beds, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife which is extremely interesting.

Woodland Park, ColoradoThey offer different types of tours.  With their standard tour you walk with one of their experienced and knowledgeable guides, and learn why it is important to preserve our diminishing wildlife -- not only for their existence but ours as well. Their personalized, one-hour walking tours through the sanctuary are fun and educational.

They also have special “photographer” tours where you can actually take photos of the wolves.  And they have special VIP tours where you will enjoy the full one-hour walking tour followed by an additional half-hour interaction inside our Ambassador Wolf enclosures! You will be considered our “special volunteers for the day”, and get an up close and personal experience with our socialized wolves.

Wolf kisses are common so don’t forget your camera!  Yep!  “Wolf kisses!  Isn’t that something that you have always wanted? Their website is: http://www.wolfeducation.org/

During the summer months the area has a lot of music and arts festivals that are attended by a lot of people in the surrounding area. There are a lot of local artisans who create their own artwork/sculpture/leather goods as well as “wood” creations.

Woodland Park, ColoradoDuring our stay there, we met two gentlemen from St. Louis who came to Colorado for their first time and loved it.  They went horseback riding, river rafting and took in almost all of the sights and sounds of the area in just 5 days!

As we mentioned, Ron and Michael (at right) are super hosts and very accommodating.  You WILL have a memorable time staying with them.   Before going, check out www.woodlandparkchamber.com

Always remember to have fun when traveling, meet new people and talk to everyone. At the Pikes Peak Paradise Bed and Breakfast we met two of the nicest people, Tara and Christian from Westchester County, New York.  She is so wonderful and he was delightful.  Both of them were a lot of fun and we only wish that we would have had more time to visit with them.  Most likely on our next trip to New York we will get to party with them again.

Just remember, straight people can be so much fun!  They can’t help it if they were born straight!
