Built in 1867, Marlborough House B&B is situated in the very centre of Bath, close to Queen Square and at the edge of Royal Victoria Park. A short stroll up Marlborough Lane will lead you to the gates of this lovely park, where Royal Avenue presents a panoramic view of the gracefully imposing Royal Crescent, a fine example of Georgian architecture. Only a few steps further will bring you to Baths' famous Circus and the centre of historic Bath, altogether a 5 minute walk from Marlborough House. Marlborough House has seven bedrooms; every one handsomely furnished with antiques and containing either an antique wood four-poster, or a Victorian brass and iron bed. Each room is unique, but all are lovely, comfortable, scrupulously clean, and provided with complementary sherry and an abundant hostess tray featuring home baked cookies. Each room has a direct dial telephone, radio, alarm, hair dryer, and colour television with remote control. In addition, Marlborough house is on-line and internet and e-mail access is offered to guests. Guests might desire to stay the morning in the luxury of their room, where breakfast is available by room service. Indeed, room service is another exceptional treat offered at the Marlborough House and is available throughout the day and evening. Licensed to serve drink, a wide variety of fine organic beers and wines, as well as an array of organic spirits and mixers, can be ordered through room service, or taken in the lounge. Marlborough House is non-smoking throughout, as the proprietors and staff strive to keep the hotel environment as congenial as possible for all the guests. Bath is a small, but cosmopolitan and lovely city. With its architectural integrity and the golden hue of its stone, it is like a jewel set within the verdant rolling hills of the West County's pastoral landscape. Bath, with it's mineral hot springs, renowned for over two millennia, is the ancient urban centre of an archeologically rich historical setting that stretches back to the Roman era and beyond. As such, it is the perfect base from which to explore other nearby historical sites, all within 45 minutes of Marlborough House: Stonehenge, Wells, Glastonbury, Lacock, Castle Combe, Cheddar Gorge, or Longleat, the spectacular home of the Marquis of Bath. Charles and Laura are happy to offer guidance for the best routes and itineraries to explore Bath and the surrounding area, or for suggestions on the array of the city's fine restaurants. Charles has a wealth of knowledge about musical events in the area and Laura is always pleased to offer advice on antique shopping in this antique hunter's mecca.
