In the heart of the Maya Mountains, enjoy the beauty of pristine rain forest, the fascination of Mayan ruins, the waterfalls and natural swimming pools, the mysteries of caves, the flora and fauna of the jungle.  Sleep in the comfort of Egyptian cotton linens and mosquito netting on your king size canopy bed or relax in the hammock on your private screened-in porch.  Each thatched-roof luxury cabana is situated under the jungle canopy where the sounds of nature create a daily serenade.

Excellent meals are among our high priorities.  We maintain a modest wine inventory and operate a full bar in our main Lodge, where we also have a wide-screen TV for videos, a good sound system for listening and dancing, and a library with games, puzzles and an eclectic book collection.

Mariposa Jungle Lodge is truly a birder’s paradise,with over 400 known species in the immediate geographical area that ranges from broadleaf forest (the jungle) to open agricultural land to the nearby Mountain Pine Ridge Forest.  After we saw 102 species and a variety of nests on-site in one 36 hour period, we decided to erect our first jungle bird watching deck, where our guests can sit 20 feet above ground on a 16’x16’ deck and enjoy a 360 degree view of an area replete with different trees, nesting sites, and birdlife.  Our tower is a unique, safe and comfortable place for the enjoyment of birdwatchers, stargazers, and people who enjoy generic relaxation in a unique setting.  It is also the site of our gourmet jungle barbeques under the stars.
