PRIVATE DELUXE CABINS IN FOREST ON COOL RIVER
All have complete kitchens stocked with country biscuits, lean Canadian bacon, juices, coffee, tea, and basic seasonings. They have screened porches, swings, hammocks, full-sized refrigerators and stoves, grills, air conditioning, ceiling fans, fire places, washers and dryers, sheets, blankets, pillows, towels and soaps. Country towns and villages, restaurants, Global Wildlife Center, St. Joseph Seminary and Abbey, and entertainment are located within 10 miles. An hour or so to New Orleans, Baton Rouge or Mississippi Gulf Coast. Some of our regulars come every year and stay a week or two. Rates are reduced for longer stays and for groups of 12 or more renting all 3 facilities. CHALET The River Chalet overlooks a forested crescent of the river. On the ground floor is the living area with 25-foot floor-to-ceiling views of the river and forest, soapstone fireplace, dining room, kitchen and screened porch for morning coffee and evening refreshment. A small bedroom with two singles and a large bath with whirlpool for two. An open, cantilevered deck overlooks the river crescent. The second floor accommodates queen-sized sleeping in a spacious, treetop cedar loft with half-bath and game room. Two additional singles are upstairs. At regular low water level, wade, swim, or build a sand-castle right in front. Chalet guests enjoy the most extensive views and use of the river, including delightful summertime inner-tube trips that terminate at your deck. River temperature? Refreshing in the summer, bracing in autumn, and cold in winter. MEADOW CABIN Set back in tall pine trees, tucked just out of sight from the stocked pond and wildflower meadow - our sunning and stargazing spot. The Cabins trail to the river in the opposite direction passes Meditation Point and follows ridges of mature magnolias, cypress, white oak, American beech, pine and other hardwoods. The trail ends at a white sand bar. Great for wading and splashing in the artesian stream. Youll find a big screened porch with swing, table and chairs, a living area with wood-burning fireplace, rockers, two single day-beds, full kitchen and dining area. The all-Louisiana cypress interior includes a separate bedroom with queen-sized bed, bath and single whirlpool tub, central air conditioning, and back deck outside shower. Great for 1 or 2, or group of 3 or 4. TREEHOUSE The Treehouse is perched high up in the pines and magnolias with a nice view of the little river. It has a screened porch with swing, small living area with wood-burning fireplace, a futon sofa bed, full kitchen, bedroom with queen-sized bed, and bath. At its regular low, you can access the river in front of the with help of a rope to steady your slide down a sandy little bluff to the water. Again, youngsters here need to be accompanied.
