CHIC, INTIMATE, STYLISH "
Intrigued by the beauty and potential that Nicaragua has to offer, we decided to venture outside our comfort zone in “gringolandia” and appoint ourselves as new hoteliers in the “land of lakes and volcanoes.” With the support of our friends and family, and the approval of our cocker spaniel Emmett, we searched far and wide until we discovered Granada with all its charm. La Islita is located on a quiet street in the heart of Granada's historic center. The town's major attractions are just a few blocks from our location. Restaurants, shops, language schools and museums are all a quick walk away. Our eight rooms are fully equipped with Cable TV, A/C, Hot Water, Stylish Ceiling Fans, Wi-Fi access with your laptop, and modern bathrooms. Two deluxe suites have oversized private balconies. Enjoy continental breakfast daily by the fountain. Classic Granada architecture warmly welcomes you upon arriving at La Islita. Upon stepping into our gazebo entryway, the spacious courtyard will greet you with the sight of tropical flowers and the relaxing sound of water in the fountain. Special architectural features of our casa are the cane ceilings, lovely doorway arches, wood columns and Granada’s colorful colonial tiles all throughout. The upstairs rooftop terrace has inarguably some of the best views of Volcano Mombacho and the Cathedral. We invite you to relax up there with a cool drink and a good book as the sun sets over the town's terracotta rooftops. La Islita gives you the opportunity to experience the charms of the oldest city in America in an intimate and stylish setting. Our main goal is that you feel as welcome in La Islita as if you were visiting the house of an old friend. La Islita originally was a shell of a property ideally located in a quiet spot near the city center. Throughout its construction, we aimed to respect the surrounding environment as much as possible, cost permitting. Using reclaimed wood, recycled roof tiles and doors from deteriorating haciendas in the area, we designed La Islita around the gigantic mango tree which is the heart of the property. We also rescued the high-end furniture in the suites from a now-demolished Miami Beach hotel. Other design features, such as the wood columns, colonial floor tiles and wrought ironwork, are all the craftsmanship of local artisans. Vision and persistence were essential for this labor of love in order to convert La Islita into what it is today: a stylish and intimate space that blends the old with the new. We hope your stay with us is as comfortable as if you were in your own home. We just kindly request that you don’t feed Emmett.
