" BED & BREAKFAST AT THE EDGE OF THE
BEAUTIFUL SHENANDOAH VALLEY "
Enjoy country hospitality in our unique Victorian Carpenter Gothic villa in a little Virginia railroad town. (Train lovers can be guaranteed that a train will pass in front of the inn sometime during their stay). We are centrally located just west of scenic Goshen Pass on the western edge of the Shenandoah Valley, in a small triangle defined by historic Lexington, Staunton, and Warm Springs/Hot Springs.
First built in 1780 and expanded in 1853 to its current size, our inn has long been noted for its hospitality, hosting such celebrities as Eleanor Roosevelt and Efraim Zimbalist, Sr. Architectural features include wraparound verandahs on the first and second stories, original pine floors, a rustic den with stone fireplace, a comfortable parlor, a spacious dining room, and a solarium. A deck, next to our old barn which was once the town livery stable, overlooks a wide trout stream.
Whether you're looking for peace and quiet, convivial surroundings, or a haven that feels like family, we welcome you to our inn and our home in Goshen. Come and see why our guests return time and again.

POLICIES
Reservations:
Reservations are almost always necessary at our inn. We are filled most weekends year round, and during our peak season, May through September, a minimum of two weeks lead time is advisable. Because of Washington & Lee University and the Virginia Military Institute Parents and Alumni Weekends, which occur during the October foliage season, October reservations need to be made as far in advance as possible: six months is not too soon!
Deposit:
A deposit of one night's rate is required for a confirmed reservation.
Cancellation:
A full refund, less a $25 service charge, will be made if cancellation is received ten days' prior to the reservation date (30 days for holidays and area special events).
Check-In:
3:00 - 7:00 PM
Check-Out:
11:00 AM
Children:
The Hummingbird Inn is often a destination for couples wishing to get away for a celebration or a romantic weekend. In many cases they have left children at home with a sitter. Although we are very fond of children, we feel that as a courtesy to our guests, we can only welcome young people 12 and older who would feel comfortable in a grown-up environment.
Pets:
We try to be flexible about dogs, so please call us regarding your dog’s suitability for staying here with you. Preferably, guests with dogs are accommodated in the Teter-Wood room, a first floor room with direct outside access. We charge an additional $10 per visit for a canine guest.
Smoking:
The Hummingbird Inn is a non-smoking establishment. Smoking is permitted on the verandahs.
