Puerto Viejo is the undiscovered jewel of Costa Rica, attracting backpackers and surfers - a huge melting pot of cultures. The foreigners come from South America, Canada & Europe - three distinct cultures living together. There are also BriBri natives, who have lived here for centuries, and the descendents of the African Caribbeans which initially came over as slaves for the banana trade, and Costa Ricans of Spanish decent.
The 2002 census found people from 49 different countries in a population of just over 2,000.

We have a cancelation policy of refunding 75% deposit as long as I can re-rent your time block. If notice is given well in advance, this is not usually too much problem as our rooms rent well. There are no refunds for late arrivals or early departures unless prior arrangement has been made.
