" AN OASIS IN HILO TOWN "
Our Hawaiian bed and breakfast is a completely restored 1912 plantation home, with four guest rooms (complete with ensuite bathrooms and lanais) looking over Hilo Bay and our beautiful koi ponds and streams. We're in a great location in Hilo Town - from here, you can walk to the famous Farmer's Market, as well as cafes, museums, bars, galleries, and the many eclectic shops that Hilo is known for. You won't even need a car, but we do offer parking if you bring one. We can also arrange rides to and from the airport - just let us know. When we resotred Hilo Bay Hale, we were careful to retain the home's original charm and historic features, enhancing the home with beautiful bamboo walls and ceilings, and adding remote control ceiling fans in each guest room to keep our guests cool on warm days. We also refinished the beautiful hardwood flooring. Our front lanai is the perfect place to relax and immerse yourself in the sites and sounds of Hilo Town -- Hawaii's second largest city. Watch the cruise ships come in, and see the hawaiian canoes pass in and out of the harbor below. Each of our suites offers a queen-sized bed, lovely antique furnishings, and indivudually chosen artworks from local artisans. The beds feature luxurious 400 thread count sheets. The Tsunami Suite, is decorated with historic photos from the many tidal waves that have hit the Hilo area, and has private lanai that looks over our water gardens and koi ponds. The James Michener Room is named after the famous author, who wrote "Tales of the South Pacific" and the novel "Hawaii". The suite houses a private collection of Michener Works and decorations art inspired by them. The room has its own private "garden" bath, including a hot tub and a private lanai. The Bay Room has its own private entrance, and views of Hilo Bay and old Hilo Town, as well as a private bath with a tub and shower. The Lava Room is our biggest suite. on the first floor with its own private lawn, bamboo garden, and waterfalls. The suite has a wonderful garden shower with a stone floor and slate walls and a sliding glass door that turns your indoor shower into an outdoor shower. Set amonmst water gardens and stands of bamboo, Hilo Bay Hale is an oasis in the city. Come stay with us on the lush, tropical Big Island of Hawaii.
