Surrounded by fifty acres of lush open space with a mile of frontage on the famed Battenkill River, you'll enjoy spectacular mountain views in every direction. Visit our friendly farm yard animals, enjoy our two and a half miles of walking trails, or just sit on our porch and enjoy the surroundings. Come hike the trails of the Green Mountain National Forest, Mount Equinox, or one of the State Parks in the area. There is access to the Appalachian Trail in our Green Mountain National Forest. We can supply you with information on many of the trails in the area. For easy nature trails and challenging day long hikes visit the Merck Forest. Southern Vermont also has many wonderful opportunities for downhill skiing. The two major ski areas near the Arlington area are Stratton Mountain and Bromely Mountain. Both mountains have full equipment rental, ski schools and excellent snowmaking and grooming capability. Rentals are also available from Skier's Edge. And southern Vermont has some of the best cross country skiing available in the east. There are several touring centers available offering trails at all levels of skiing ability and full support services such as rental shops and lessons. Nearby, Hildene, Wild Wings and Viking Nordic offer equipment rental, instruction and groomed trails. We also have 50 acres of land here at Hill Farm. If you have your own equipment you are welcome to cross country ski, snowshoe, or ice skate on our grounds as well. Our convenient but tucked away location, just four miles south of Manchester, puts you right in the middle of some of the best that Southern Vermont has to offer. We have five guest rooms on the second floor of the 1830 main inn and an additional six rooms in the 1790 guest house next door. All have private baths. Each room is individually decorated to capture the spirit and charm of a New England farmhouse. Traveling with children? Consider one of our five two-room suites. For a romantic escape, we suggest the Battenkill Suite, with a queen bed, fireplace and cathedral ceilings. From May 20 to October 20 our four cabins are also available. Each is different but all have an open porch with incomparable views of the Green & Taconic mountains, private bathrooms with showers and are heated for your comfort. Whether you reserve a room, suite, or cabin, you will enjoy unwinding in our common rooms--meeting new friends around the fireplace in the parlor, doing jigsaw puzzles in the dining room, delving into the game cupboard, or quietly reading. You're also invited to enjoy a selection from our extensive wine cellar. Come visit us in Southern Vermont at the Hill Farm Inn B&B!
