ON ESPLANADE RIDGE, NEAR THE FRENCH QUARTER "
Located on the historic Esplanade Ridge, this New Orleans B&B is just a few blocks from the French Quarter and Faubourg Marigny Districts as well as the Fairgrounds Race Track, home of the annual Jazz & Heritage Festival. The Italianate style family home was built circa 1865 and has been restored to its original grandeur. The home boasts some of the most unique and original plaster work found anywhere in the city and was featured in the book New Orleans Architecture - Volume V: The Esplanade Ridge. Plaster ceiling medallions adorn the foyer, dining room, double-parlor and solarium. The main focal point of the home's interior is the convergence of three separate archways which separate the double-parlor and solarium. The union of these arches reaches toward the floor and is suspended effortlessly in mid-air. This area provides the perfect setting for your wedding ceremony or the renewal of your marriage vows. The parlor and solarium are elegantly appointed with Victorian furnishings as well as a 1912 player piano with over 100 rolls of vintage music. The dining room features an 11-foot oak table which provides a casually elegant setting for breakfast. The garden area features lush tropical foliage surrounding a new in-ground swimming pool and hot tub. Besides the ability to sun yourself and have fun poolside, there are quiet little corners of the garden to explore, complete with ponds, goldfish and fountains. Peruse the morning paper or lose yourself in your current novel, sip an afternoon cocktail or spend some quiet time with that special someone. Eleven fireplaces grace the home, including two in the parlor which feature Italian marble mantelpieces. In each of the other rooms, a unique cypress mantel adds its own distinctive flavor to each room's ambiance. Original cypress millwork and transoms exist throughout the home, which is comprised of a front and rear wing, each with a separate staircase. All guest rooms are located on the upper level and private and shared baths available. Experience our community-styled breakfast where our guests often participate in lively conversation. The breakfast menu changes daily, but may consist of spinach quiche, quiche lorraine, meat-stuffed croissants & eggs, plain or fruit-filled croissants, danish, fresh fruit or fruit cups. Cereal, coffee, tea, milk and fresh juice is always available. Enjoy a complimentary cocktail upon your arrival as your hosts get you settled into your surroundings. Each room is equipped with satellite television with over 45 music channels, alarm clock, radio/CD player, hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers, iron and ironing board, and in-room safes.
