ON A PROVENCE GOAT FARM "
Goat Farm Guesthouse is in the heart of Provence, at 3,500 feet above sea level in the Haute Provence region, where you'll find natural wilderness and lavender farms, sheep and goats, and the home of Jean Giono, a well-known French writer. We have been raising goats here since 1976 amd make a wonderful cheese called "Chevredou", used in the best restaurants in Luberon, Avignon, Monaco, and more. Our farm in Provence is the ideal place to get far away from the stress of city living - here you can just relax, or spend the day exploring the picturesque villages of Luberon, the Popes Palace in Avignon or even swim in the Mediterranean sea. Or stay local and hike on the trails around and through the lavender fields. Shopping for food can be done either in Apt, small city 30 minutes from the farm, or in Sault, big village with plenty of charm and there are also several open air markets all around where to find typical provencal goods. We milk our goats several times daily - you're welcome to watch or join in. We can also show you how our cheese is made, an art unto itself. We're in southern France, where the sun shines year-round, but it still can get chilly in the evenings, so bring something to keep you war when you take an evening stroll under the pure skies of Provence. Our Provence vacation renatl apartment used to be a barn built during the French Revolution, now remodled as a beautiful guest accommodation. We've added a terrace looking over the goat pasture. There's also a barbeque, , picnic table, armchairs and wonderful wildflowers in season! The apartment has over 750 square feet of open space, and includes a queen-sized bed and a one person sleeper couch. The kitchen has kitchenware, arefrigerator, a coffee maker, and more. There's is a private bath with shower, and towels and washcloths are provided. We also provide books to read and a color television. The goats keep us occupied, so we don't provide meals, but we're happy to welcome our guests with a drink when you arrive, and of course we'll always share our goat cheese with you! We also have three dogs, some cats, and a donkey named Flora. You might also see wild pigs and deer close by. Goat Farm Guesthouse is a wonderful slice of the French Countryside, perfect for travelers who love the animals and the great outdoors.
