EVOLUTION & REVOLUTION "
Every room at the Bird Rock Hotel is individually appointed and decorated. Our Deluxe Suites are among the most luxurious lodgings on the island, specifically designed for comfort, romance and celebration. Standard Rooms offer luxurious comfort without the deluxe price. Our clean, comfortable and tasteful Economy Rooms are among the most affordable accommodations in the San Juan Islands. All rooms come with our substantial, homemade continental breakfast, featuring fresh-baked scones, seasonal fruits, hot and cold cereal, yogurt, fresh juice, tea and locally roasted coffee. Our rooms also feature radiant in-floor heating and access to our common parlor, garden courtyard and second-floor computer workstation. Most importantly, every guest receives our excellent customer service, our famous attention to detail and our personal recommendations on how to best enjoy the island. The San Juan Islands are a series of ancient mountaintops protruding from the Salish Sea, an inland waterway northwest of Seattle, Washington. The Salish Sea is part of the famed inside passage to Alaska, explored and charted most notably by Captain George Vancouver in 1792. There are roughly 170 separate islands, with San Juan Island being nearly the largest (Orcas island is only minutely larger). San Juan Island is about as far Northwest as you can get inside the continental United States. Most islanders, of course, would argue that San Juan Island is a continent unto itself. San Juan Island is roughly equidistant from Vancouver, British Columbia and Seattle, Washington, with beautiful Victoria, British Columbia and Buchart Gardens just a short boat ride across Haro Strait. San Juan Island is a rare place, unhurried, unspoiled, surrounded by picturesque mountains and spectacular ocean views. Unwind in a place left behind by the passage of time, set aside from the busy world beyond our waters. Explore pebble and sandy beaches along secluded coves cradled by towering evergreens. Visit shops and galleries filled with the work of island artists. Discover the resonant sound of Orcas surfacing for air as they chase salmon along the western cliffs. Witness the perfect winter sunset. Whatever you look for in a vacation, chances are you'll find it on San Juan Island anytime of year. San Juan Island has more public waterfront land than any of the other islands, and one of our favorite things to do here is simply to explore the acres of national historic parks, hidden coves and quiet trails. When you get to Bird Rock Hotel, we'll give you a map and highlight directions to all our favorite spots, both on and off the beaten path.
