" SMALL, ELEGANT VERMONT B&B
Come inside and make yourself at home by the fire to read the morning paper with an early cup of coffee in the cheery living room. Plan your day of summer and fall sightseeing or bike/canoe trip on one of the scenic routes nearby. We will provide reasonable shuttle service with advance notice. In winter, we're close to ice skating and fishing on the river and top ranked cross country ski facilities. Meetings, groups, seminars or workshops are welcome at Forty Putney Road B&B. Coffee service, snacks, pub service and lunches from simple to sumptuous can be arranged. For small groups, there is a private conference room upstairs. For larger groups, the living and dining rooms can be closed off from the rest of the Inn. Some groups use the large table for conference or break into smaller groups in the living room. Day use facility fees are moderate. The cozy fireside PUB opens to our guests in the late afternoons. We offer snacks, cheese and crackers with an interesting selection of wines and some really good draft beer or bottled beers. In the summer, pub service is available on the terrace or lawn tables. The suite was the master bedroom of this fine period Vermont home. It had a private sitting room room with fireplace and desk with its own wonderful view over the majestic cut leaf maple (the largest in Vermont), the croquet green and down to the river. Large drawers and closets, a luxurious bath and the separate bedroom with queen sized bed offers a wonderful place for a long stay. A complete gourmet breakfast is served each morning either in the dining room or outside in the garden in warm weather. Breakfasts usually features an innovative fresh fruit course followed by French crepes, perhaps, with our home made citrus-Grand Marnier syrup or maybe Italian country omelets with good Vermont sausage. Excellent full bodied Green Mountain French Roast regular or decaf coffee plus a good selection of teas are always on hand. From Forty Putney Bed & Breakfast, stroll a few blocks past the park to downtown Brattleboro and its many fine restaurants, theaters, art galleries, bookstores, numerous sports outfitters, and other unique shops. The center of many special events in Southern Vermont, Brattleboro is home to many special music events. Good bike routes for all levels, as well as wonderful canoeing and kayaking waters are also close at hand. Fall brings spectacular foliage throughout Vermont. The Brattleboro Country Club is open to all: see its web site for rates and more information. In Winter, it becomes the closest cross-country ski area. We are ideally situated about 45 minutes from six major ski areas: Mt. Snow/Haystack, Stratton, Bromley, Magic Mountain, Okemo, and Ascutney. Come visit us in beautiful Southern Vermont!
