ROMANTIC, HISTORIC VERMONT BED & BREAKFAST
Come visit us in Bristol, Vermont, where the love story of William Lawrence and Minnie Peet began. Our Vermont Bed & Breakfast is a beautifully maintained century--old Queen Anne-style Victorian, beautifully built with hardwood floors throughout, eleven lovely stained glass windows and a grand staircase. At the Crystal Palace, you'll enjoy elegance, great food and a wonderful vacation experience.
The Crystal Palace Bed & Breakfast is in Addison County, and is registered with the Vermont State Register of Historic Places. This beautiful, historic mansion, now owned by Stacie and Stephen, has been restored to its original splendor: white and red cherry, butternut, ash, and quarter oak, finished to a grand sheen by the owners. The house is just two blocks from Bristol's village green. The home includes a lovely piazza which wraps around the side of the house, and is furnished with wicker furniture, and we;comes guests to come and relax at this very special place.
The first floor entrance hall contains a unique quarter-sawn oak, cut to look like wood blocks or brick, an unusual decorative effect. The entrance leads to the two parlors on the first floor, one for guests, and one for the hosts. The guest parlor is a grand, romantic room with curved wall and windows, rich oriental carpet and period antiques.
The house is creatively decorated by Stacie with antiques the couple have collected together, many lovingly restored by Stephen. Stephen also loves plants, and they add life throughout this historic home.
On our grounds, you'll find two magnificent maples. "The Wedding Maples", originally planted by Mr. Lawrence as gifts to his bride, Minnie. A gazebo further enhances the romance and beauty of the back yard.
There's also a large carriage barn that Mr. Lawrence used for his horse business, and which the innkeepers plan to convert into more guest rooms in the near future.
