Crater Rim Cabin was built in the middle of the last century with redwood tongue-in-groove, nearly impossible to obtain today. We remodeled the cabin in early 2001.

Crater Rim Cabin is near the summit of Kilauea Volcano at 4,050 feet, on the sunny side of Volcano Village. The southern end of our property runs along Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Our elevation and Hawaiian trade winds give us a mild, cool climate - up to 75 degrees on a hot summer day, and as cool as 62 degrees on a cool winter day. It's like perpetual springtime!

At over 4000 feet, our nights in Volcano can be chilly, as low as 45-55 degrees, depending on the season. Volcano even gets a light frost every ten or fifteen years.

Our Volcano vacation rental cabin is surrounded by koa and ohia trees, as well as many beautiful examples of the hapu‘u, Hawaii's endemic tree fern. The apapane, an endemic Hawaiian honeycreeper, is often seen flitting through the branches. You'll also often see endangered Hawaiian nene at the nearby golf course, or flying overhead!

Our kitchen is fully equipped with modern conveniences, including smooth-top electric range, full size refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster, and a coffee maker. We also supply a nu,ber of breakfast items (fruit, milk, eggs, juice, cereals, fresh ground coffee and more) for your arrival.

Crater Rim Cabin's new gas fireplace keeps the cabin warm and cozy on a chilly Volcano night, and the California King bed is equipped with an electric blanket, just in case.

We're a short walk from the Volcano Golf and County Club, a beautiful course with Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea views.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park has many spectacular hiking trails, and great automobile touring too! There's still molten lava flowing into the ocean nearby too!

After spending the day exploring the National Park,you can watch spectacular videos about the volcano on our TV-DVD, or take in some of our growing library of commercial film releases. You can also rent movies at the nearby Kilauea General Store.
