Set high in the hills east of Vermont's capital city of Montpelier, northeast of Barre, the granite capital of the world, you'll find The Comstock House Bed & Breakfast.

We have wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside., including Camel's Hump, Lincoln Peak and Hunger Mountain. The rolling hills, open pastures, farms, barns, and forested slopes of central Vermont and the Northeast Kingdom stretch out to the horizon.

Comstock House B&B was built in 1891 by a local dairy farmer, Charles Comstock. Our gracious farmhouse has been renovated to create a warm, welcoming bed and breakfast.

Enjoy the views over a home-made breakfast, or take in the sunsets from your own room. Our sunsets and sunrises are spectactular, and there are many great spots around the farm where you can enjoy them. You can also wander down to the pasture and listen to the baaahing of the lambs.

The Comstock House is also the perfect place to stay while attending one of the programs at Goddard College.

Your guestroom includes free wifi internet access, private bathroom, and dramatic views.

We offer four guest rooms: The Meadow Room (1st floor), a corner room surrounded by the views, with a private bath. Or the Mountain Room (2nd floor), also overlooking the scenery, which has a corner bedroom, and a spacious private bathroom with clawfoot tub.

If you're traveling with family and friends, you might want to try our Mountain Suite.  And the master's room, the Comstock Room, is our largest, facing east, south, and west.  It also has a clawfoot tub.

There are many great things to do in the area - including options for relaxing, recreating or exploring, boith here on the farm and in nearby Plainfield, Vermont.

Relax with a good book in the parlor or outside under the canopy of century-old maples. Go bicycling, strolling, hiking, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.

Ask us for directions to some of the area's top attractions: Stowe, Sugarbush, Burke Mountain, the Vermont Statehouse, the granite quarries, Ben & Jerry's. There's fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, skating all nearby.

And central Vermont has some of the best restaurants around. We'd love to share some of our favorites.
