Chelsea Pines Inn is located on the border of Chelsea and Greenwich Village, two of the most colorful, interesting, and Gay neighborhoods in New York. Originally built as a private home back when 14th Street was the northern end of the city our building has gone through many changes over the years.

As the City grew around our building it became fashionable rooming house and was used as the setting in Cool Air, a short story by horror author H.P. Lovecraft. Eventually 317 West Fourteenth Street was home base to sailors in the Merchant Marine during the early 20th century, when this area was a hard working port. In 1983 Sheldon Post and his lover Jay Lesiger purchased the building and began the renovations that have become Chelsea Pines Inn.

Today, the Inn features clean, comfortable, and unique rooms, each one dedicated to a "Celluloid Hero" from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
