The Carriage House B&B was constructed from the same materials as the house: granite blocks and a red slate roof. First transformed into a home in 1960, it was thoroughly renovated and re-opened as a Bed & Breakfast guest cottage in 1997. This unique guest house is furnished in the Craftsman Cottage style, with an eclectic mix of 20th Century furnishings. Downstairs, with soaring 13 ft high ceilings, are living room, dining room, kitchen, breakfast room, powder room and laundry. Upstairs are two bedrooms, bathroom, and a study. Although the Carriage House has central heat and air-conditioning, guests love to try out the Vermont Castings wood burning stove. The Carriage House is a "home away from home" and offers complete privacy, as well as off-street parking. It is convenient to downtown Philadelphia, the University Science Center, the University of Pennsylvania, The University of the Sciences, and Drexel University and all of University City. Guests use it for family visits, conferences, meetings, weddings, business travel, recuperating from hospital stays or waiting to move into their new home in the area. We offer it for short visits (2 night minimum) to month-long stays. It's a great alternative to a hotel or sterile residence inn. Why stay in a hotel or Bed & Breakfast room when you can have your own cottage? Make your stay in Philadelphia a roomy, relaxing, and comfortable experience.
