Captain Grant's features wide-board hardwood floors, 245-year-old hand-hewn beams and an authentically rebuilt seven-foot-wide staircase. A three story deck, built on the home's east side, allows you to experience the rising sun while enjoying that morning cup of coffee. The home's siding and windows are original, with only a few panes of glass replaced. The walkway was built from stone found on the property. The deck is post and beam style and made of white oak. You may sit under a 280-year-old maple tree - an awesome experience! In the evening, enjoy a glass of wine compliments of Captain Grant's. You'll be greeted with a full country breakfast, with coffee, tea, juice, meats, muffins, fresh fruit, fancy eggs, pancakes, American fries, a variety of breads, homemade jellies and jams.
The Adelaide: Named after the wife of Captain Grant, this room features a queen-size bed and massive beamed ceilings. Like an English country cottage. Elizabeth: Named after the last mistress to live in the Inn, this room features a four-poster canopied queen-size bed. The flooring is made of a hard heart pine - now extinct. Gun stock posts, open beams and easy deck access. Amy: This room is similar to Elizabeth, although the bed is taller and features a small stair for climbing in. A 19th century sink sets off this bright, sunny room. Collette: Named after the current owner. Our largest room, with a queen size iron sleigh bed and a twin bed. A futon mattress can be pulled out can sleep two adults and two children (no children under 6 please) or three adults. A massive beam crosses the ceiling, and snowshoes hang on the wall. Margaret: Pictured with its black marble and white mahogany wood-burning fireplace (firewood provided, this is our only room with true Victorian flair. Holly: Features a queen size bed, whirlpool bath, antique furniture (c. 1910). At the foot of the bed, and a fully-working reproduced 18th century fireplace. The ultimate romantic experience - a glass of wine, a roaring fire and "thou".
Fly fishing, sea fishing, ice skating, and golf are all nearby: ocean beaches and Gillette Castle are only half an hour away.
