" ENJOY A WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE ON HORSEBACK IN PENNSYLVANIA'S APPALACHAIN MOUNTAINS "
You have the opportunity to view flora and fauna in every season. From the large front porch you can watch hummingbirds feed, listen to whippoorwills on a summer night, hear owls screech, turkeys gobble, geese honk and doves coo. Deer can be seen feeding, while fox, rabbits, and squirrels scamper across the fields. If you are lucky, you might catch a glimpse of bear or coyote. The mountains are filled with redbuds and dogwoods in the spring. Early summer brings the mountain laurel. Fall offers glorious colors and winter pristine snow covered fields. Meals are prepared from locally raised meats, fresh vegetables, homemade breads and desserts. Beans and franks are served only upon request! Meals are healthy and filling. All meals are served in the dining room at prearranged times. There is also plenty to snack on in between meals. We can accommodate special dietary requests with advance notice. We invite you to enjoy our relaxed atmosphere and sincere hospitality. We are an environment friendly operation and try to make as little impact on the land as possible. We encourage our guests to experience a farm/ranch way of living and use the opportunity to learn a new way of life. The guest house was built around 1930. It is for our guests exclusively. The house has central air (a luxury seldom needed in our cool mountain air) plus several bedrooms have individual air conditioners. There is a common living room, dining room and 1½ shared bathrooms. Guests have access to a refrigerator. Cowboy memorabilia and antiques help make the guest house a comfortable and fun place to stay. There are an abundance of books to read, games to play and things to remember from days gone by. The four bedrooms can accommodate eight people very comfortably, but if you have a larger group, it will hold up to twelve people. There is also a sofa bed in the living room. In addition to daily trail rides in the clean mountain air, you can also enjoy our in-ground, outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, volleyball, shuffleboard, cross-country skiing (we do not provide skis) and hiking. Within a very short drive from the ranch, you can find fishing (with state license), antique and craft shops, the C&O Canal Towpath, Rails to Trails, tennis, golf, skiing, canoeing, bicycle rentals, outlet malls, snow tubing, spas and massages. We are near Bedford Village, Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and Whitetail Ski Resort. Drive a little farther and you will find Lakemont and Bland’s Amusement Parks, Falling Waters and more ski resorts.
