IN THE BERKSHIRES "
Each of the 8 Guestrooms at Broken Hill Manor is beautifully furnished with items gathered from around the world. Every room's genre is drawn from the lives of some of Opera's most famous Heroines. Experience yester-year charm and genuine Berkshire Hospitality at Broken Hill Manor. Four years of caring renovation has restored this beautiful 1900 House to it's former glory. Before 1997 Broken Hill Manor was the Country Home of John Pickard and Frank Provo, 2 playwrights from the 40's and 50's credited with writing the first radio soap opera, "Young Doctor Malone". Today Broken Hill Manor beckons you to experience its many charms. Every room has views to the tree surrounded gardens and if you listen closely around midnight, you can hear absolutely nothing - that's tranquil. If a special break away is what you need, come and experience a different life at Broken Hill Manor. Your Hosts Gaetan and Mike will welcome you to one of 8 rooms, each decorated in the genre of a famous Operatic Heroine. Gaetan a born New Englander, Architect and ex-Oratorio Society singer at Carnegie Hall likes to spend the occasional moment over a glass of wine with guests talking about the house, your house - any house, as long as it includes decorating, or a renovation story. In his spare time Gaetan also likes to garden. Mike is more likely to be found schmoozing at the breakfast table, once the cooking's all done, chatting about places like Peru, Egypt or Russia - he's been to over 50 countries. Although born in England, Mike's a New Englander at heart. Mike likes to pilot single engine airplanes. Between them Gaetan and Mike speak English, French, German, Spanish, some Arabic and more than a little Russian. Breakfast is served between 9:00am and 10:00am, it always features in season fruits, juices and of course lots of coffee, tea etc. Each Sunday one of the 3 of the house specialties are served, Waffles, Cinnamon Pancakes or English Bread Pudding. On other days the menu changes although it's always a cooked breakfast - just to get you off on the right foot. For summer the terrace, or more intimately the gallery, make perfect morning feast locations . In the cooler months, the dining room, or again the gallery, are ideal settings. Broken Hill Manor tries to accommodate guests with special dietary needs also - just highlight this when making a reservation.
