Brewster Inn B&B is the former mansion home of State Governor Owen Brewster (played by Alan Alda in "The Aviator". In Spring '08, the Brewster Inn will be seen on television on HGTV “If Walls Could Talk” Our Maine bed and breakfast offers 1930's elegance in a small town atmosphere, along with a warm, relaxing and friendly environment. Originally built in the 1930’s for Governor (later Senator) Ralph Owen Brewster by noted architect John Calvin Stevens, the mansion has large common rooms and ten beautifully decorated, comfortable guestrooms and suites, ranging from expansive to cozy, each with a different theme. Some of our rooms have fireplaces, original wood panelling, window seats and original tile bathrooms. Others have beautiful garden views or a romantic whirlpool bath for two. We also offer one fully accessible room. All of our guest rooms have private bathrooms, cable television and a/c (in season). When it's warm out, you can relax on our covered porches and enjoy more than an acre of rose and perennial gardens and a beautiful ornamental pond. In the cooler months, curl up in the living room window seat and watch the snow fall, or enjoy our cheery fire and catch up on the books you've been wanting to ready with a cup of hot chocolate. If you're looking for an outdoor getaway, a bit of romance, a quiet week in the country, planning a wedding, or looking for the perfect spot for your next corporate retreat, Mark and Judith would love to welcome you to the Brewster Inn Bed and Breakfast, and offer you some wonderful English hospitality. In the winter, come for our winter town festival, moose watching, dog sledding, snowmobiling, skiing, ice fishing and hunting. In the summer, you'll enjoy Dexter's “Wild West” weekend, And in the fall, you can see the beautiful leaf color, take some stunning pictures, and walk our public parks and beach. There's also great water sports, fishing, hiking trails, bicycling and more in the area. Dexter is a wonderful small town in The Maine Highlands, located inbetween the Maine coast (40 miles from Belfast) and mountains and lakes (40 miles from Moosehead Lake and Squaw Mountain). Our guests can pack a picnic lunch and explore the country, or enjoy a short walk to antique stores and Wassookeag Lake. Or visit one of our many local farms and orchards for apple and pumpkin picking - and take some delicious Maine pure maple syrup home with you. Dexter is also on the Maine snowmobile trails with the ITS trail running right past our bed and breakfast inn. Come explore the Maine Highlands and all of the area's quaint charm while staying with us at the Brewster Inn.
