The Brewster Inn is located in Dexter, Maine which is less than an hour's drive to Bangor and the beautiful Moosehead Lake and Mt Katahdin region of Maine. The Inn is the former mansion home of State Governor and Senator Owen Brewster  who was portrayed by Alan Alda in the Golden Globe winning movie  "The Aviator" that co-starred Leonardo DiCaprio as Howard Hughes, so it's pretty historic.

Our home was on TV across the USA on HGTV in June 2008 as we were filmed for one of their programmes "If Walls Could Talk" in Oct 07.

Other noted people to of stayed here inc Presidents Truman and Taft , 7 Senators that we're aware of and Louis B Mayer, the founder of MGM Films.

Our guestrooms range from expansive to cozy, and each offers a distinct personality. Some feature fireplaces, original wood paneling, window seats and original tile bathrooms. Others offer a view of the gardens or a whirlpool bath for two. One handicapped accessible room is available.  The Brewster Inn welcomes children of all ages.

Explore the area and all of its quaint charm while staying with us. Walk to shops in Dexter where you will find a variety of shopping, antiques and Maine made items. Take a drive or bicycle ride around the area and experience an abundance of scenic views from lake Wassookeag, charming farms and beautiful countryside.

Visit one our many local farms and orchards for apple and pumpkin picking. Don't forget to take home our delicious Maine pure maple syrup .

In cooler months enjoy activities such as our winter town festival complete with horse drawn sled rides. Snowmobiling, snow shoeing, skiing and ice fishing are also popular activities. Dexter is also on the Maine snowmobile trails with the ITS trail running right past our bed and breakfast inn. In the warmer months enjoy Dexter's public parks and beach, water sports, fishing and more...

In warm weather, relax on our covered porches and enjoy over an acre of rose and perennial gardens, or play tennis on our grass court. In the winter, curl up in the living room window seat and watch the snow fall, or sit by the fire and indulge in novels and hot chocolate.

Dexter, Maine offers a small town ambiance and is enviably located in The Maine Highlands between the Maine coast (approximately 40 miles to Belfast) and mountains and lakes (approximately 40 miles to Moosehead Lake and Mt Katahdin). Guests can take a picnic lunch and explore the countryside, or walk to antique stores and local Wassookeag Lake. Dexter is also on the Maine snowmobile trails.

All rates based on double-occupancy, unless offered or stated otherwise. There is an additional charge of $15 per night for each extra person over 12 years of age. There is a two night minimum for the Farmhouse Kitchen Suites.
