FIVE MINUTES TO SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL "
We are happy to accommodate the special diets and needs of our guests. We prepare savory and spectacular meals for those on celiac, diabetic, gluten-sensitive, low-fat, low-carb, corn-free, lacto-ovo, vegan, and myriad other diets. This casual and comfortable Bed and Breakfast is an ideal and economical temporary home for visitors to the Ashland area. Originally built as a farmhouse in the 1890's, the Inn has been hosting visitors to Ashland since 1991. It was named The MouseTrap Inn as a nod to a historic (and now defunct) pine mousetrap factory in the City which once supplied 90% of the nation's traps! Of course, with Ashland's theatrical history, many visitors associate the name with Agatha Christie's famous play (which ran on London's West End for more than forty years!) New owner, Dean Clark, who purchased the Inn in 2002, has changed the name to honor a favorite song (which Ella Fitzgerald covers so wonderfully) and as the first of many changes as Blue Moon Bed and Breakfast takes its place among the many wonderful Inns of Ashland. Blue Moon offers five guest rooms, and an attached "cottage," all with private bathrooms. We have a separate unit set aside for those traveling with children or pets. And while it is not ADA compliant, we have enjoyed the company of those with physical disabilities by altering the space just a bit. A full breakfast, with homemade muffins and breads, fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice and a hearty egg dish is served in the dining area at Nine A.M., or under the English Walnut tree on the deck on warm summer mornings. Of course, Starbuck's coffee is ready earlier for those who, like Dean and I, can't start the day without a cup. We are also glad to accommodate special diets as our abilities permit! For those who need to be underway early, we are (with just a tish of a bit of advance warning) glad to prepare a continental or travel breakfast. After breakfast, you can enjoy the library of books and magazines about Shakespeare, art, travel and cuisine in the guest living room, on the front porch swing or on the sunny deck overlooking the garden area before departing for a day of Plays or playing. In the cool days of Fall and Winter, don't be surprised to find a crackling fire (with real wood!) greeting you in the morning or upon your return from the theatre in the evening. Come for the Ashland Shakespeare Festival, and stay for the Hospitality of the Blue Moon B&B!
