Our Name? - One of the most frequently asked questions. Of course it's a story.

Two lesbian friends used to own a sheep ranch here on the island and a pair of their original ewes, Rosie and Maria, both very tame and a bit spoiled, were at the age when it was cruel to continue breeding them. Rosie also had a bum shoulder, hurt when a dog chased her. Our friends couldn't bear to turn them into Fall Fair burgers for the Slugs  Hockey Team (an old island tradition) or sell them for pet food. Rosie and Maria became our lawn mowers and our first field pets.

Rosie had a few age bumps and lumps on her body. The spring shearing ritual always occasioned a few nicks and cuts. The cauterizing spray and bug repellent was a vibrant blue. In the rain, it ran a bit and Rosie looked a lot like  she had a nice blue rinse.

Our logo is a ram's head of an extinct sheep species. The main house is blue. The gender obfuscation appealed to us and THE BLUE EWE just seemed right. Local realtors think our name is a fellatio joke. It doesn't matter what they say about us, just as long as they keep talking. It's good for business.

A Private Retreat - Centre yourself in the comfort and tranquility of Canada's beautiful, natural Gulf  Islands. We have over 5 acres of forested foot paths, ponds and pastures with ocean and mountain views.

Relax - On the verandah or the lawn, in the woods or by the pond; pick a sunny spot or a shady spot. Curl up with a good book; there is a well stacked bookcase in every room.

Hot Tub and Sauna - Guests are welcome to use the hot tub at the main house. Costumes optional but discouraged. There are many quiet, private opportunities available for your enjoyment.

Bike or Walk - Good easy road and trail access to swimming lake, Beddis Beach, park reserves and town.

Island Diversions - Fresh and salt water boating - sail or motor, kayak, dive, tennis, golf, shiatsu, reflexology, jin shin do, eselin, tai chi, meditation, galleries, studios, theatre. Bookings and rentals arranged. Unique exclusive shopping.
